About this jobResponsibilities:
This is position at a state of the art environmental testing laboratory involving the physical and chemical analysis of water, wastewater, soils, sludge, and industrial wastes. Primary duties include assisting laboratory staff with all aspects of sample analysis including mixing chemical solutions, weighing samples, preparing samples, transcribing data, preparing instrumentation, performing solvent extractions with separatory funnels, analyzing samples using basic instrumentation such as pH meters, alkalinity titrators, and conductivity meters, washing laboratory glassware and sample dishes. Additional responsibilities may include electronic reporting of analytical data, assembling and filing laboratory reports, preparation of sampling bottles and customer bottle kits, assisting the Sample Administrator with the receipt, unpacking, and labeling of samples, and metrology checks of thermometers, pipettes, and weighing balances. This position has the opportunity for future growth in performing additional analyses or taking on additional responsibilities. Previous experience with EPA procedures, basic laboratory instrumentation, or basic laboratory techniques is desired.
Duties
Qualifications:
Associates or technical degree in chemistry or related sciences or 2 years of previous experience in an analytical laboratory.
Analytical experience with EPA testing methodology preferred. Applicant should possess the ability to work independently under limited supervision and as part of a team to meet deadlines and solve problems.
Good laboratory technique, quality control, and safety are essential.
Applicants must have computer experience and basic knowledge and working skill in MS Word and Excel. Attention to detail and accuracy essential.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Must be capable of completing multiple tasks and reorganizing work assignments in order to meet time-critical deadlines.
Fluent in using Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and other related programs.
Availability for night and/or weekend work Physical Requirements
