Foster Oregon, Engineered Products Veneer plant is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor. The Foster plant is part of our Engineered Products and Distribution business and is leading the world's engineered products market with innovative products, systems, and services for use in a variety of residential, commercial and industrial applications. We're looking for people who have solid values, can create maintenance excellence and effectively lead and develop associates. Position reports to site Maintenance Manager.
The Foster Veneer facility is located in Sweet Home Oregon, it is part of Engineered Products. We produce superior Douglas Fir veneer and our primary customers are integrated facilities. In addition we produce and sell veneer on the open market. At full capacity (24/7), the plant employs approximately 115 employees.
Sweet Home is in the beautiful Willamette Valley and is a wonderful place for people who love outdoor recreation and want to live in a temperate climate area. In addition it is in close proximity to a number of different sized cities which offer a full range of entertainment and services: Portland, Salem, Eugene, Corvallis and Albany. The famed Oregon Coast and central Oregon Cascade Mountains bound either side of the Willamette Valley.
Key Functions:
Plan, develop, manage and provide leadership of an effective Maintenance Department through:
Ensuring the safety and well being of oneself and all of the associates in the production facility.
Identify areas where safety issues could arise and take measures to proactively address the concerns.
Actively supervising, developing and communicating with a team of millwrights, electricians and multi-craft personnel to ensure effective communication across and between shifts and teams.
Department-wide use of reliable troubleshooting methods and repair of machine and facility maintenance issues.
Utilizing preventive maintenance systems to reduce unscheduled downtime.
Effective use of performance measuring/management systems and skills development for department improvement.
Full utilization of computer-based maintenance management systems and other resources available to support effective prioritization of maintenance
requests and management of the maintenance inventory system.
Continuous improvement efforts involving maintenance and production crews in problem solving to maximize facility
improvement in safety, housekeeping, waste reduction, quality, productivity and cost.

Requirements:
Engineering/Technical Degree or equivalent experience / training.
Minimum of three (3) years maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with
proven skills in the areas of preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting ability.
Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
Must have excellent interpersonal, team building, problem solving and communication skills.
Must have track record of consistently demonstrating leadership skills as well as positive influence and
accomplishments in proactively influencing safety, quality, productivity and people development.
Ability to provide innovative solutions to continuously improve maintenance processes and eliminate unscheduled
downtime.
Must be willing to work holidays as needed, be “on-call” and work rotating weekends as schedule requires.
Must be computer literate with ability to learn and use software associated with maintenance tracking systems.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures and at heights should conditions warrant.
The following qualifications are preferred:
PLC trouble shooting skills
College degree or technical training in a related field.
Proven skills in hydraulics and pneumatic troubleshooting.
Experience in wood products manufacturing.
Experience with LEAN processes.
Experience with SAP CMMS software.
