ATI Cast Products, Albany Operations is seeking a Straightener to join our team. 1. GENERAL SUMMARY (What does the position do?): Responsible for straightening, grinding, welding, and otherwise bringing parts into spec. Also uses various dimensional tools, fixtures, and ultrasonic tools to determine the specs of a part, and make appropriate determinations as to the best way to bring the part into tolerance limits. Works closely with the salvage analyst, grinding, welding, and CMM. 2. MAJOR DUTIES (List duties in order of time spent on them, with the most first): Be accountable for working safely by following all safety rules and safe work practices. Always consider safety before action. Use dimensional tools (calipers, dyers, Ultrasonic, etc.) and fixtures to determine if a part is out of spec. Use blueprints, tech cards, and other instructions to determine the specs and tolerances of a part. Determine the best method to rework a part and bring it back into spec without causing damage. Straighten, heat, bend, push, pull, and otherwise move the part back into tech card and blueprint tolerances. Use pneumatic drills to target parts for machining to blueprint specs. Follow written and verbal instruction and work as a team member. Work and interact in a positive and professional manner with support departments, including engineering, quality, and other manufacturing areas. Train Straightening Mechanic as needed. Work outside department as required. Develop rework plans with other departments. Other duties as assigned. 3. SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY (Degree to which position oversees the work of others) None 4. NECESSARY EXPERIENCE/SKILLS (List those necessary to qualify for the position, and then list desirable skills) Two years grinding experience or proven equivalent proficiency. Working knowledge of dimensional tools and techniques. Working knowledge of hydraulic presses. Proficient ability in the use of blueprints, tech cards, and dimensional records. Forward thinker/ Problem solving skills. 5. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS (List those necessary to qualify for the position, and then list desirables) High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass a Jaeger eye exam. Must be able to obtain a visual/dimensional bug within the first 90 days. 6. JOB CONDITIONS (Travel, extensive overtime, evening meetings, on-call, etc.) Must be able to work outside department as required. Occasional overtime required. Must be able to offer proof of US Citizenship or of Permanent Resident Alien upon hire. 7. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Dimensional tools, drills, hydraulic press, welding tools, hand tools, cranes, and ovens. 8.
